Concussions

A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) that occurs when the brain gets jolted within the skull following a blow or impact to the head. In children and adolescents, concussions most commonly result from sports activities but can also occur from playground accidents, falls, motor vehicle incidents, and other head injuries. Every concussion is a brain injury that demands careful medical attention and individualized management.

Dr. Minuskin has been treating pediatric concussions for over two decades, dating back to when the impact test was first introduced. At Kiddies' Pal Pediatrics, we provide prompt evaluation, accurate diagnosis, and ongoing monitoring using up-to-date return-to-play and return-to-learn guidelines. Each child receives a personalized care plan, including school accommodations if needed, to support a full and safe recovery. We educate both families and young athletes about concussion prevention and the importance of reporting symptoms early.
